Heard my babies heart beat for the first time

Well, my wife had her first appointment with the OBGYN yesterday to check on how the baby is progressing and we got to hear the heartbeat for the first time. Its really weird knowing that I am going to be someones father and that I have created life. I am supposed to get to see her first ultrasound sometime either next month or the month after. Even though Im seeing her getting larger and hearing the heartbeat, it just doesnt seem real.

Is it your baby? 😛

Congrats!

That is so wonderful. Congrats again. I cannot imagine the feelings you are having right now.

BTW, are you going to find out the sex of the baby or wait til the delivery?

If the OP's is planning on checking out the ultrasounds on some of the future appointments, it will be pretty obvious about the sex, if its a boy. You definately cannot miss that third leg showing up on the screen 🙂

Is your wife high risk, or is everything normal?

Definately going to find out beforehand, I'm hoping for a boy but I'll take a girl just the same. Everything seems to be normal, I got to witness my first pap and everything. For some reason I thought there would be more to it than 2 quick swabs after a speculum gets inserted. The OBGYN is kinda cool, shes a short lady who has Pulp Fiction and Pirates of the Caribbean posters all over the exam rooms (well framed of course)

Just wait till you see the baby on the ultrasound. It's awesome, dude.

...but still pales in comparison to being able to touch your new baby.
