You got it! All those "features" which people like costs money to offer. That's why some companies who are known for having lifetime warranties sell cheaper cards without that vaunted warranty (merely offering a 1-2 year warranty).

I've heard that too, but am not sure as to the exact nature of that relationship.
Most companies that build both NV and ATI are motherboard manufacturers. Basically they seem to run amok and do whatever they want to as far as GPU/chipset affiliation and pricing.
