Heard 2 pops and then reboot while idle at desktop

This is a year and a half old HP p6610f that I modified by replacing the PSU with an Antec Green 380D and adding an XFX 5770 video card and two more sticks of 4 GB Crucial memory.

The PSU and Vid card were added over a year ago. The memory sticks were added about two weeks ago. It has performed flawlessly up until now without even a single blue screen.

Today it popped twice while sitting idle at desktop - then rebooted.

I shut it down, waited 10 minutes (while I scanned the MB for black marks or funny looking caps), then started it up again.

It started normally.

Can't find any black marks or odd looking caps on the MB, but because of the Vid card I can't really see every cap.

I have been playing Skyrim off and on with it since November. The vid card temps get up into the mid 90 C range.

So, any insight? Possible PSU issue or possible MB issue?

I had a MB blow on an old Pentium 4 once before and it dropped dead like a stone. Took the cpu with it. That isn't the case here.

If it were me, I would just replace the PSU as precautionary measure. This would give a chance to pull the system apart and give it a good smell test type inspection.

I bought an Antec Green EA650. Overkill for my little system, but a good deal and I may upgrade the Vid card later. Hope this fixes the problem.

**** Everything has been running fine on the new EA650 for a month now. (I do what I can to make the 5770 cooler - you aren't helping.)
