Need some advice on ordering lunch! pathetic, I know... Any healthy (calorie/fat wise) suggestions? I really hate steamed chicken with brocolli so I can't order that again...I'm starving so "an eggroll in moderation is healthy" does not apply :)

Thanks!

lien goh (note my english spelling of cantonese names for dishes is probably a little off)

it's like shredded pork with some vegetables, with thin sliced rice cakes, all fried up. one of my faves.

I'm guessing it's not a dim sum place.

Rule 1) Don't order from an american-ized chinese takeout place.

Rule 2) Find yourself a REAL chinese food resturant.

Rule 3) Get stuff.

even stuff from real chinese places is often oily. probably loaded with msg too if that's your concern though i don't see what's the big deal unless you are allergic to it.

Why don't you go vietnamese with some good ole PHO! :)
I'm not sure how it is health wise ...I think it's healthier than chinese food though :p

About MSG, you do realize that rice is often boiled with a certain type of Kelp (Konbu in japanese, forget what the Chinese call it) for flavor, which is LOADED with MSG, and Kelp is uses in other dishes as well. Not all MSG comes from a chemical plant.

P.S., most chinese food is incredibly unhealthy. The chinese eat it with a 1:4 food:rice ratio, while americans usually go with 1:1 or less. This makes a huge difference.

Well you probably don't want any MSG...

My local place is MSG free.. I think..

heh, stop worrying about msg, msg is in everything. parmesian cheese? super high msg,..

and just eat a reasonable portion with plenty of rice, and you'll be fine. those noodle/soup meals are better for you, less fat.

Healthy? Bah! If you're going to get Chinese, go all out or don't get it at all. Moderation is key.

I really hope you are kidding. Kung Pao Chicken is one of the most unhealthy (and one of the best tasting :() foods you can get at a chinese resurant. 2300-2700 calories, and most from fat.
