So in the mornings, I usually try to do a high protein diet for breakfast (eggs, cottage cheese, a little bit of steel cut oats). Sometimes, I would like to change it up a bit, or sometimes, I wake up late and just don't feel like cooking in the morning.

Is Cereal a healthy option? Healthy, meaning, high protein, low carbs, high fiber, not too much sugar, and just not too much ingredients.

Any thoughts?

kashi golean, i guess. 6g sugar per serving, but high in protein for a cereal. i would just try mixing other things into your cottage cheese(flax, peanut butter, etc) or maybe try greek yogurt.

I Googled this a few days ago. It is kinda obvios what the consensus is. Low sugar, high fiber cereals are best.

If you want somethign truely healthy, you probably need to buy the raw ingrediants on your own.

Plain shreaded wheat as exdeath mentioned was near the top of the list.

I bet if you take your goals and spend 30 minutes in a grocery store isle, yu will quickly realize what types of cereals are high protein, high fiber, low sugar. I doubt low carb would be easy to find though.

Special K is lower carb.

If you're not hungry, don't feel too guilty about skipping breakfast and making up for it later. The whole breakfast is the most important meal of the day thing has never been proven.

I like the Kashi cereals. Oh, and thanks for the idea of peanut butter in cottage cheese. I'm curious how this tastes, I might try mixing in some natural pb tomorrow morning.

I eat just plain Bran Flakes. $1.99 a box. Same as raisin bran without the raisins obviously. High in fiber, tastes good. I don't eat it for breakfast as you are supposed to have protein for the first meal to activate the liver, but I eat it for dinner some days of the week.

Grape Nuts are healthy, and I find them oddly good tasting with a touch of sugar sprinkled on them. YMMV I think a lot of people probably hate the taste and crunch of them :D

I LOVE Grape Nuts... such a weird brannish flavor. When my local brewery is brewing the surrounding area smells exactly like it... makes me hungry every time.

To the OP, cereals aren't great for you. It's mostly highly processed corn, HFCS and other additives to make it taste good. If you had to eat it I'd suggest something like Grape Nuts and other whole grain cereals, but I'd avoid it if at all possible. You'd be much better off with a couple pieces of fruit and a glass of milk.
