My guess is that it will continue to gain support until 1/1/14, at which point insurance rates will go up 20-40%, and then people will start to complain.

Yes, well, that's America at her finest. Polls also indicate that Americans want lower taxes, better government benefits and lower deficits... just as they want to be able to eat bacon ice cream all day, never exercise, and lose weight. ;)

BTW, Obama's personal polling has gained in a small but noticeable way since the ruling as well.

Research the Byrd rule. It's not going to be that simple

I'm somewhat familiar with the Bryd Rule.

I've heard on news (cannot remember who/what but was some radio program) that the Senate Parliamentarian was expected to approve a move to eliminate the mandate under the Budget Reconciliation procedure even before the SCOTUS's ruling. Now that it's a tax, he is thought to be that much more likely to approve it.
