What would be the most polemic rule? Journalists loves controversy, so I figure that they are cheering for it.

The mandate is toast, at the very least.

Hopefully so; I don't think I want either party using this ruling to mandate even more purchases in the future. Democrats will shit themselves when republicans take power again and start mandating people post a $50,000 bond before getting an abortion, purchase firearms for militia use, or treasury bonds once the Chinese stop lending to us.

Not too much substance to discuss. It's late here and I'm going to bed. Poll at this point is also somewhat ineffectual since most people rather wait for the final words from the SCOTUS. (Not too many hours from now)

This law will NOT be overturned. It would be politically disasterous for too many people on both sides of the aisle. It would also throw the health care insurance into even more chaos than it is now, and too many lobbiests like this law.

No, it's not going anywhere. We threw out the constitution a long time ago.

The question is what will their decission mean for you?
Recently I had a general checkup.
Upon leaving I expected to be asked to pay my insurance co-pay.
I wasn't.
I asked if I would be billed for the co-pay?
No.
Checkups are paid for in full.
Obamacare.
Children's checkups also paid in full.
Obamacare.
Examines like colonoscopy are paid in full.
Obamacare.
All but and just a few of Obamacare benefits.
Damn... I guess that's why the so labeled Obamacare, is actually what the real name suggests.
"The affordable healthcare act".
So again as we peasants, us 99% masses, as some of us pray for Obamacare defeat, we again hope against our own best interests. That being "Affordable healthcare".
Do you have any idea how stupid we look to politicians? And gullible?
If The affordable healthcare act is defeated, we peasants will never see or experience affordable healthcare again during our lifetime. We will have lost.
Healthcare for profit will have won.
You may not care one way or another...now.
But one day you will close in on those golden years of life. You will need affordable care.
Will you regret the poor quality or more likely non existent affordable healthcare then?
Will you look back and ask what the hell were you thinking when you cheered on the death of the affordable healthcare act i.e Obamacare?

For what it's worth I don't see them striking it to the point it's a shell of its former self. They substantially allow it OR punt. His presidency would be a particularly acute failure if this was mostly rejected and I just can't really see it happening.

They're only "paid in full" in the sense that their cost is accounted for in advance via your premiums whether you use them or not; it's not like someone else is paying for them. It's actually worse this way since you may be getting stuck paying premiums for services you don't need and wouldn't buy insurance for on your own - e.g. you don't have kids and have no need for a kids' checkup, yet due to Obamacare you paid for it in full.

It's funny to see people so clueless be absolutely certain of this outcome or that outcome. There hasn't been this much anticipation for a ruling since the Bush / Gore ruling. Hopefully the whole thing gets tossed and congress is forced to go back to the drawing board to come up with something better than this 2000 page pile of crap we had to pass before we could know what was in it. I'm not at all confident that the court will make the right decision though.

Complete bullshit. My wife collects copays when she see patients in her clinic. I pay a copay when I take my kids to the doctor. I collect payments from patients when I sedate for colonoscopies. You are full of lies.

I also want to add that the options in the poll make no sense

Especially since the omission of a severability clause means only two diametric choices remain. Based on the sloppiness of the bill itself and oral argument vagaries, I believe that tomorrow the entire statute gets overturned.

Thank goodness the White House decided to follow Nancy Pelosi's scatterbrained playbook rather than FDR’s. I believe disgraced former U.S. Congressman Anthony Weiner even bloviated about helping write this massive ACA boondoggle/train wreck, how apt.

While I'm not hoping it gets tossed, I'm in agreement with you that there is no point in trying to predict this ruling. Honestly, I haven't a damn clue. About the only guess I'd make is that there's a 5-4 split one way or the other, with Kennedy the swing vote. But I'm not even entirely certain of that.

5 to 4 vote with Kennedy being the swing vote. I suspect the mandate will get shot down, but who knows for sure at this point.

Why the fuck would a conservative controlled court not stomp out another ridiculous system of socialism sprouted by damn Liberals?

Don't know or really care which particular legal justification they come up with (one that will probably stem from partisanship within the court). But the mandate seems like a tax on healthy middle and working class people. If you want everyone to be insured, pay with it with a progressive tax scheme. And if you're going to force people to buy a product, at least do something to control costs. I don't think Obama's done anything that is going to tackle costs.

I predict if the law gets struck down in whole or in part Obama will go on TV and give an incredibly condescending speech.

Someone will have dared challenge him and deprived the world of his divine guidance. He'll scold them for it.

If there were a Presidential Dictionary where "foolishness" had Bush's picture, we'd find "hubris" starring Obama's smiling face.

If the law is overturned in whole, the stock prices of health insurance companies will get a nice bump.

but I wouldn't be surprised if they do--One thing Roberts has certainly shown, is that his confirmation testimony in which he declared he 'takes precedent quite seriously,' was outright BS.

Taking precedent seriously isn't the same as being slavishly loyal to it either.

What are you basing that on? The net effect of Obamacare was very good for the insurance companies. Pull up their stock charts from the period when it passed if you don't believe me. They can really only lose here. If the whole thing gets struck down we stick with the old system, and if just the individual mandate gets struck down they have a major problem.
