As I'm sitting here reading some posts and eating my cereal before class, I looked over my shoulder at all the supplements my roomate takes daily. He has a pill case bigger than my 80 year old grandmothers, filled with Multivitimins, fish oils, proten supplements, hydroxycut, Glucsamine(?), and a bunch of other crap im too lazy to read. I on the other hand, take a multivitamin once in a while (when my mom calls and asks "are you taking your vitamins???").

So, I guess im really just wondering if taking all that crap is worth it, because as far as I can tell he isnt in very good shape (physically speaking), and what do all you guys eat outside the realm of normal food?

I take a multivitamin and fish oil. The only noted differences is my pee being bright yellow and my bank account being short $30.

I take Zinc every day and I definitely notice a difference in my immunity/skin. Other than that, I don't take any. Though after reading the sleeping pill thread, I'm gonna try some Valerian root extract to see if it helps.

I tend to feel that multivitamins are overrated because the majority of people get more of those nutrients than they even need from the food they eat. Unless you eat really, really poorly, I don't see the need but AFAIK there aren't any negatives, other than cost, to taking them.

Generally vitamin pills should only be taken if you don't get enough from your daily diet or you have a deficiency. They should never substitute food.

I take multivitamins now and then, but protein supplements, and fish oil is what I use more of because I lift weights.
