Health Insurance??

Hi everybody...

I am new to this forum and I thought "Off Topic" is the right thread to post this message. As this is a forum to share deals and general info, I believe I could ask you guys on how you purchase your health insurance plans? Do you have any best approaches that you suggest to a person who has never dealt with insurance agents so that he/she doesn't get into the sweet talk and get lost in the fine print. Anybody in michigan who can suggest good health insurance agents? Thanks a ton in advance.

are you working? i get my health insurance coverage through a program at work.

otherwise, i think you need to look into Cobra.

EDIT: also, if you're still in school i believe they will provide coverage but i'm not sure.

EDIT2: welcome to anandtech!😀

Welcome to Anandtech! As for health insurance, I don't even understand the stuff I get from work 🙁. Good luck however, and pay no attention to any trolls or otherwise jackasses you'll meet here 🙂.

if you get coverage from your employer, take advantage of it. otherwise buy catastrophic coverage only from an insurer or a group savings plan

I'm a student, I have student health insurance but it sucks. I think the best option is through work. Health insurance is so expensive, I think it's because I live in NY. Being 20, not smoking, drinking and getting quoted over 200 a month without prescriptions (over 400 with prescriptions) is too much for me.

health insurance is based on how much they think you will use up.

no one is going to sell you a policy for $200 when they think you will use $300 worth of benefits.

Hmm. . .first post in a tech forum, and it's in OT? And it's about health insurance?

I call market researcher.
