Hero...does your wife work? Sounds like your paying for "primary working spouse" coverage...

She did until a few months ago. She's going to be a stay-at-home mom with our daughter and any other kids we have. She was temping this past year, so We've been paying for her individual plan for a couple years now.

I refuse to pay for health care insurance. Prices are just a rip-off. If I ever get really really sick or am in a car accident I'll just make payments to the hospital each month. I'll still come out way ahead.
If you, or someone in your family, is traumatically injured or diseased and you don't have health insurance, be prepared to declare bankruptcy. Unless you are making some serious cash, I doubt you could recover from the astronomical medical bills.

If you have good car insurance it will cover med in case of accident, and that is where the majority of major injuries come from.

I don't have health insurance because I am not like most of the lazy drunks in the US. I don't smoke, drink, eat fatty junk food, have sex without a condom, etc etc...... But most people drink, eat junk food, don't work out, etc....

And why would anybody pay 10K for health insurance if you only go twice a year?? Why do you go? I say, like someone else has, take that money put it to the side and keep for later.
