Health insurance @ work

So I'm working on our new health insurance policy for the company. We have historically paid 100% of the insurance costs for our employees. Rising costs across the board are making this harder.

I want to see how it is for everyone else. Do you get health insurance from your work? Do they pay for 100% of it?

Thanks.

Fortune 500 company (just barely)

My work doesn't pay for "all" of my health care but 90% is pretty damn good.

Why not let the employees decide. tell them you can have a raise or free health care cost.

i work for the Gov so they pay 75% and i pay the rest. They also only allow a certain % of profit so that keeps our rates down as well.

Thanks for the stars, guys! :)

Actually, we are thinking of giving them a choice- a really basic plan we would pay for but then they could upgrade to other plans if they wanted to, but we feel badly because they've never had to pay before.

Work pays quite a bit of mine.. Last time I looked, the cost ( health only, not counting dental/vision) is about $800 per month company paid, and about $100 from me.

The company used to pay 100%, but costs became too high.

i dont know how much it costs, but i either pay 400$ a year for a okay plan, or 800$ a year for a great plan where i pay almost absolutely nothing even for 1000,0000$ worth of hospital services

Yeah, good luck with that. I'm sure a lot of people will be really happy to hear that they're now going to have to pay for their plans. That's going to hurt. Good luck!

My job has different plans but it is mostly 80/20 or 90/10. We have a HSA account plan with insurance as well which is really good for younger, single, and/or healthier workers.

How did you feel when they changed that policy?

It is really hard to find a job that pays for all your insurance today. I think the avg is 75% paid.

i think it is better to have the employees pay a portion than to go with a crappy plan

stay with a good company with good plans/choices and just let the employees know that with increasing costs you gotta have them chip in

I work as a state employee - they will either pay 100% for me to be on an HMO or like 90% for me to be on a PPO (I pay other 10%) - guess which one I choose? :p nice thing was plan includes medical, vision, and dental

Where do you get that information?

I've worked for 2 large software companies and my wife works at a state hospital and every ob either of us have had it's always been you pay a portion of your own plan.

The last company I worked for you paid 1% of your total salary for you. 1.5% for you and your spouse and 2% for you whole family. This way the guys upstairs help offset the cost of the guys downstairs.

Healthcare costs are crazy. I pay $0 now, but I use to pay $60 at my old job. It's really hard to try and go into business for myself due to the cost of insuring myself.
