Health Insurance Related Issue. Suggestions.

So i used to have fortis before (student health) and i discontinued it this semester and now i got an issue with my eyes. I just got the adjuunct thing from school - some added benefits thru school health center. This was because i didnt justify the cost of fortis, or any health insurance at that point.

Fortis was a bitch, primary care was at school, before anywhere else (if you guys have fortis - what is on yours). Right now I got an appt with UC Davis and they charge 150 for the checkup and then bill me later for the added thing. Since im uninsured for the moment & this is going to cost.

I was thinking of reinitating insurance once again, either with fortis or with Health Net + PPO 1500 (about $51/mo). Problem is anything that i use they might deny me for a pre-existing condition. This condition wasnt preexisting 6 months ago. It started only recently, but restarting the insrance will mean so that it is preexisting. I could go with blue cross which i was insured by years ago (stopped it before i joined school and switched to fortis), so atleast there they might have a record on me, for being insured for years.

THis is bugging the hell out of me. I cant even use short time insurance.

Also the problem is many of these companies will dump me saying preexisting condition.. which sucks.

In the end i probably will have to get operated in India, rather than here. Just ball park figures about 7K for operation here - with insurance coverage. About 3K flying to India and getting it done there (2K tix's and 1K for the operation).

Ofcourse i dont know if i need operation. They say my retina's are fine, but i still see things going past.. which is irritating as hell.

bah!

What kind of things are you seeing in your vision?

right now "floaters", saw a flasher one night, but not since. I had child cataracts and was operated at age 3.

The floaters initially were visible under a microscope only, so i kinda ignored it, but complained about it. Then i saw a doctor who mentioned i might have a problem in my vision knowing i had child cataracts. That's when i told him the previous nights flasher that saw. Now i see it when im looking at a white or pastel screen. Otherwise i dont notice it if im not paying attention.

Then i had it checked by another doctor, he said my eyes are fine. This second doctor is the one who has checked my eyes the last 5 years or so. He said its fine, he didnt see a problem. He was concerend and he referred me to another retina specialist, but the earliest i could get an appt there is on december 3rd, that's in LA.

In the mean time a family friend talked to someone who is an opthamalogist in alberqurqe NM and he immediately recommended someone from UC Davis knowing that this is a problem even in the minor stages. I have another exam on 24th (next week) with UC Davis.

So far i know that my retina's are fine, but they arent sure why im seeing things.
