Health insurance premiums.

I have noted that many of you quote very low annual costs for your insurance. Unless there are plans out there that I don't know about, I think that for many the cost of insurance premiums are mostly covered by your employers, and therefore you don't see the entire cost. What plans do you have and what is your annual cost.

As for me. 100% of the premiums come out of my wages.
I have a high deductable (5k) PPO plan through QualCare that cost me $7000 per year for a family plan.
That is with the group discount from work.
I could have a low deductable PPO but it would have cost about 14000 per year.
When my company dropped its group plan a few years back it would have cost me $19000 per year for a BC/BS 80/20 plan with $1000 deductable.
I also have a Health Saving Account in which I can deposit 5k/year for health expenses including eye/dental/prescriptions.

I pay very little, get great health care, and love it.

I oppose those without health coverage getting even a second glance from a health professional.

So if someone doesn't have health insurance they shouldn't see a doctor. Interesting point of view.

Do you actually use your HSA $?

Mine goes away at the end of the year if I don't spend all of it.

I actually have no problem with it...as long as he doesn't mind me giving his address to all those without health care so they can repeatedly rob him to get the money to pay for basic medical necessities.

Come on Prince, you know I'm more ready for robbers than you. 😉

And I actually didn't mean that those without health insurance shouldn't get a second glance from a doctor. I meant those without health insurance OR cash.

Life's a business, after all.

Lets say that insurance cost is hard to quantify.

You have the Co-Pay for doctor visits.

Then you also have the Co-pay for the Drugs. Lets see. 4 Prescriptions for Blood pressure. If I used by company's insurance that would be $400.00 every 90 days, plus at least one doctor's visit, and also Lab Fees. That does not cover my kids.

My wife's insurance covers Myself and her and it costs $400.00 a month. I use her drug coverage and the drugs are half price. So the Drug cost varies quite a bit.

$105.72 every 2 weeks for a high-deductible plan for me and my daughter.

Just thankful neither of us really get sick or have had accidents resulting in physical injury.

I think you're talking about FSA (flex spending), HSA accounts don't have the "use it or lose" rule.

you left out an option on the poll that most here on P&N would pick:

"i'm covered by mom and dad's policy"

i'm guessing a majority of P&N's don't work (or pay taxes either). No, going to school doesn't count as work...

Wait, I thought that you could both work and attend school. I guess I'm doing something illegal.

It's so disgusting it almost causes me physical pain that people like you exist. 8-(

I truly weep for the world sometimes.

No, Nebor looks to be a fringe extremist. Either that or a troll trying to play a Conservative to provide fodder for your types.

its confirmed, you suck. :frown:

I have a health savings plan. Now here is the funny part. My employer actually has to spend more money for my health savings plan than it did for the regular plan that was offered last year. Because I am young and due to some weird cost schedules, my premium is exactly the same now as it was before but now my employer has to pay into a health savings account also. So they are losing about $1000 a year on my health savings plan.

The new HSA's don't include the use it or loose it.
So you can save up year after year. I love it because otherwise I can never claim dental or eye expenses

I think I pay about $200/month and the plan itself is $700-750 or something like that. We have $20 or so copays, but a few things are copay-less like well-child visits for the kids. I picked one of the better plans at work but not the top tier one. Top tier had a high deductible (my yearly is a few hundred, I think), but then no copays, but we don't use doctors much. This is all tax deductible with a CAFE plan but I didn't sign up for that this year given our infrequency of visits and laziness with making the claims. I probably should have, though, it's nice to get... I have blue cross, not sure if that's hmo, ppo, cia, nra, fbi or whatever.

$200/month for a high deductable PPO. This is down from $300/month last year as my employer got a better deal or paid a bigger share. There is $1000 deductible/per person before insurance starts paying for everything. It is not a bad plan.
