I work for the Kmart Corporation and was full time for 3.5 years with full benefits. As of January of 2004, i was cut down to part time due to downsizing, lost $3 per hour, but still work some nice hours.

They offer an alternative health insurance program, but it's still like $190 per month i think. Is there anything cheaper than this? I probably goto the doctor's office 3 times a year, get under a 5 prescriptions filled per year, and hit ER once every couple of years. Any less expensive ideas ? The cost of prescriptions and doctor visits w/o insurance is killing me!

Join the military, full benefits! And you cant get downsized unless you have a major screw up.

$190 is kind of pricey. I think I would do it for about $100, I can't find anything cheap. Good luck.

Do you do any "side" work that you would consider "self-employment?" If so, you might want to look into the "National Association of the Self Employed." You should be able to find a better policy through them for less money - approximately $150 or so per month for a PPO plan with both medical and dental coverage. Being a part of the NASE allows you to get the group rates on these plans.

Membership in the NASE requires a payment of $120, though.
