Anyone who thinks it is OK to give the federal government more power than it already has is a moron. We should be cleaning up our federal government, not allowing it to make more messes.

Americans have a government vacuum attached to their wallet, and a gun to their head. This has GOT to change.

who says we'd have to pay higher taxes???

Look, if we can find money to kill people; then we can find money to help people.

And... They shouldn't be governing over religion as well.... Why should billions go each year to faith based BS?

We don't have the money to do either.

You can't have a multi billion dollar war and give tax breaks at the same time. Now it's painful just to try to vacation to other countries.

I think your are entirely missing the point...

Witch is we should STOP spending money to kill and rather spend it on helping...

Is that not part of managing education? Why would that be an issue if managing education shouldn't be their job?

I hope you two giving me a  also agree we shouldn't be in Iraq. Not then, not now. Our constitution doesn't give the government power to police the world either. It certainly isn't just the Democrats stealing money out of my wallet with a gun to my head.

Afghanistan?

But I do agree with the statement that we should not be the world's police man. I think we'll just have to agree to disagree on what Iraq is about. I don't see it as a world's police situation. However, that's not the topic here. ;)

The chart is over a year old, the current index was in the mid seventies last I checked.

I agree we shouldnt be in Iraq, but the lifetime cost of that debacle is estimated to be 2.4 trillion. Health care would be that much every year.

You're right, that is not the topic, so I will not address it further.

But on topic, no, our government has NO right to manage healthcare, and I am glad most of us here agree with that.

In the same way I agree 100% with Dave's view on government spying and his opinion on the whole internet neutrality thing. I vertainly dont agree with anything else he has to say.

Just to make it clear :)

If we took every penny we spend on defense and spent it on healthcare we would still end up $500 billion short of the amount needed to run universal healthcare, and that is assuming that UHC does not cause our overall health care spending to rise.

Dave, our education system has been worse ever since the Dept of Education was created. States can do a better job without it.

As for the rest of your post, I'd reply to it, but you're such a douchebag, you aren't worthy of the time.

Just go vote for Hillary and continue supporting the idea of trading liberty for security. Oh, and her idea of "stay the course" in Iraq.

Hey if our government can't even manage a war right what makes you think it can handle healthcare?

If you want to be a socialist, move to a socialist country. Those of us who work for a living are tired of you bilking us out of what's ours in the name of "the greater good." This country wasn't founded on the principles of caring for everyone, it was founded on keeping what's rightfully yours. Make whatever stink you want about roads or whatever other program you want to try to back up your position but understand it's baseless and irrelevant. I've said it before and I'll say it again, if you want a socialist utopia head on over to your favorite socialist country. We here are happy to work for what we feel we need. Thanks and merry Christmas.

If you want to live in a tax haven banana republic, move to one.
We'll build the type of government we want over here without you.

I am not looking for some socialist utopia or hippie commune. Health care should be a right to any tax payer in this country. The poor already get free health care under the current system if that's what you have a problem with which is paid for by taxes. Now they don't get the best care because of that but they do get health care. Will you wait until you start getting old and need that first bypass that you will reconsider? What if you get cancer and have to spend your whole life savings to pay the insurance premiums since your job fired you because you can't come to work? I see and hear these arguments all the time at work and it saddens me.

Yes, all the kids can go on field trips to the creationist museum.

The patriot act already accomplished that, no need for Hillary to go any further.
