Headsets - help finding the perfect ones

I'm having a really hard time finding the perfect headset.

I am using the Steelseries 5h v2 currently. http://steelseries.com/products/audio/steelseries-5hv2

They are pretty good but have some core problems. I somehow end up getting the cord damaged (getting caught in the chair), which causes the sound to drop from in the left ear until you fiddle with the cord.
They are however very comfortable to wear, unlike many other headset.
I hate when headsets put pressure on the ears instead of around them.

If someone could help me find a new headset, i would be really happy, as i have spent a lot of time searching, but haven't found the right one.

Requirements:
- Must not "touch" the ears. Meaning pressure should he around the ear, on the head instead.
- Must have a replaceable cord. All of it, not just some part.
- Microphone must be of decent quality. When using the 5H V2 i have now, people complain about some background noise (white noise) or low volume if i turn the boost down.
- No leather cushions. I would rather have cloth cushions and have sound escape / enter the headset than having to deal with the uncomfortable leather.

Anyone knows something, a tip, anything?

I know i didn't set a price range, but if its worth it ill pay for it!

Thanks in advance,

Steen

I use one of these http://www.scan.co.uk/products/creative-fatal1ty-hs-800-v2-gaming-headset-with-mic

Fits your criteria apart from the replaceable cord. Sound is excellent, have had comments about how clear I sound on the mic and I have worn them for 10-12 hour stints without them getting uncomfortable. Oh and they are pretty cheap aswell compared to some of the headsets you see out there.

On a side note. Rather than looking for a headset with a replaceable cord why not just look at wireless headsets? You will have a much larger potential range to choose from.

I love my Steelseries Siberia headphones and fine them to be the most comfortable I've worn.

Have you tried contacting Steelseries to see if there is any way to replace the cord easily?

I usually only see replaceable cords in more "professional" audio headphones, not computer headsets. By "professional" I don't necessarily mean expensive, but just not the typical consumer models.

Thanks for all of your replies.

The replaceable cord is a must, since I have now owned 2 Steelseries 5H V2 and both of them is broken in the cord. Its getting to the point where it is ridiculous to buy a new headset every time the cord breaks, when the rest of the headset is in perfect condition. Even though my first 5H V2 got dropped on the ground like a million times it still holds. except the cord. So its durable, you gotta give it that.

I owned some Siberia ones for exactly 24 hours until I returned them to the store, They were so uncomfortable to wear. I thought the wire thing that lets you adjust it to your head size in a sec would be great, but it ends up pulling up slightly in your headphones and the friction between the earpieces and your head keeps them in place. WOW that sucked.

Reasons why i will never buy a wireless one is stated in the "features" tab for the logitech linked.

"With up to 10 hours of battery life,** this headset can get you through the most epic gaming sessions."

10 hours ? seriously, so if i forget to recharge one night after gaming or something they wont last the next. Ive owned a pretty decent wireless keyboard once, but i recharged that in its stand once every 2 months, and i never turned it off. 10 hours would be a PAIN!

Also i attend lans such as dreamhack in Sweden which is 4 days of nonstop gaming .. would require 2 wireless headsets so one could charge while the other is in use :p

You realize there is a cord you can attach that charges while you use them right? They even charge while you are using them, they wont charge as fast as if they are dedicated connected, but they still charge in use.

No, did not =) Don´t know if this will result in me having the cord in all the time though.

Maybe I should find this in a store somewhere to try them on. I like the auto mute when rotating the microphone.
I'm not a fan of the leather ear cushions and cant see if they got cloth or i can buy them separately.

Just plug in while you sleep, that will give you 10 hours use the next time you need it, if you find yourself going for more then 10 hours, then plug in for part of the time. Besides, at least that cable rolls up into the base station so it is tucked out of the way when not used. And you can probably buy a base station only if it DOES break.

I like the wireless because if you are listening to music and wanna go pee but the song is good you can just go to the bathroom without worrying about it because it works for something like 40 feet.

Haha, I often play with friends using voice chat. I dont think they will appreciate joining me in the bathroom. ;)

I like that i can adjust the length of the cable in the base station, so that there is not excessive amounts of cable lying around if i decide to charge it while i wear it.

I'm gonna find a store that has this so i can try it out. But I am really picky when it comes to comfort. Thank you for the suggestion.
