Headset

I don't need a new headset (I have sets of 5.1 speakers I should really use, but I use a Plantronics GameCom 1 headset I'm happy with, very comfortable).

But I see this article about how great the Astro 40 headset is, and an amazing sound would be nice.

I see on Amazon there's a bundle of the Astro 40 with some Mixamp for $200.

The current package is $250. But several comments say the 2011 or 2012 version in that $200 deal is actually better.

Shows these for $200. I'd grab them right away if I wanted a headset. Better quality sound than the A40's, they come with a USB 7.1 sound card and a great mic attached. Easy decision.
I use headphones with a separate sound card, so that's another option you might consider and there are many options, but you really can't beat that PC363D for $200.

Great find, I have two pairs, 1 for home and 1 for work. Both are working great after 2 years. Padding is holding up well and the mic sounds great. The audio quality is roughly HD 555/598 level of quality.

The one thing that I would have liked is a cable management system. The cable for the 363D is super long.

Set of 5.1's all day long.

I have my AVR set up with a nice pair of Revolver R33's as my fronts, a pair of Wharfedale Diamond 9.1's for my rears, Wharfedale 9.CC centre and a REL Q100E sub with official replacement woofer.

Cans couldn't hope to match the setup... except for pure isolation

Well, my 5.1 alternatives to headphones include:

- Klipsch 5.1 if I got them repaired - the power blew which I hear is common
- Logitech current model
- Energy Take
- Audiophile Bx5A
- Mirage

Interesting to see the Senneiser 363 and the opinion that its sound is better than the A40.

It's been out 3 years, I wonder if a new model is coming.

Great choice. I've got the original Cloud and love it. For that price, I don't think you'll find a better headset.
