Headset or Headphones/Mic?

My logitech headset that came with UT2004 just doesn't cut it anymore. I've found a ton of noise canceling headphones but not really any headsets (with a mic). any recommendations?

edit: i've come down to two choices:

1. Headset

2. Headphones
Mic

where do you game that requires you to need a noise cancelling headphone? i would look into closed/sealed air type headphones before getting noise cancelling ones. however, closed/sealed type headphones generally don't sound as good as opened air headphones.

not gaming, i'm in the dorms -_-

I have these. It has some of the best sass filtering technology available. It deturs the women from telling about her day or to do things. "What honey? I had the noise canceling on." (Continues to play Oblivion)

I think the best in terms of noise cancelling are Senn's HD280pros. A friend of mine has a pair and they're claustrophobically closed.

I also think it's better to get a good headphone/mic combination instead of a headset. Face it. Headsets suck.

If you're not gaming, why do you need a mic w/ your cans?

Best ones I've heard are Bose QuietComfort 2's..... but then again I've never heard the sennheiser noise-canceling ones, which I'd like to because I'm sure they're just as good as the Bose

Edit:
and buy a seperate mic. 😛

eh that's what you SHOULDN'T be doing lmao. noise cancellation>blast music

I don't like any set of headphones with a USB connection. USB headphones have their own DSP (sound processor). All USB headphones with their own DSP are going to majorly suck compared to a headset powered by a higher end sound card.
