Headset/Mic for gaming...

Would like to buy a high-quality ( @ upto $100. ) headset/mic for gaming. I would rather spend around $60. I've seen the Plantronics "GameCom Pro 1" usb headset/mic # 67004-01 for about $45.-$50. Any ideas?? Thanks for any responses...

Thx...

Do you know anything about the one I listed above? ( I have a creative X-Fi sound card...)

Well, if you do have a good sound card, its pointless to get a USB headset.

I've had a pair of plantronics $30 headset from bestbuy and they were garbage, I then upgraded to then a ~$150 pair of sennheiser PC 150's and they were awesome.

sennheiser makes quality headphones, you can't go wrong with them.

I've go on newegg, search for sennheiser headsets and find a pair non USB thats in your price range.

I LOVE them! The mic is amazingly high quality, and the sennheiser sound is still there. I recommend them 10/10

(It also comes with a USB sound-card if you need it, but hooked up to my X-Fi it sounds great)

I don't share in your enthusiasm. I purchased the Sennheiser PC165's ($150 at the time) and hated them, had less sound quality (to my ears) than a $20 plantronics headset.

iCEMATs are really good. I am using them now. The only draw back I have had is the mic sucked (replaced it, its a seperate cord anyways) and it has easily breakable plastic. Mine are currently held together by electrical tape, if you read the reviews on newegg you will see this is a problem many experience. I will say it took a year for that break to happen, because I was very careful with them.

I've come to the conclusion that a headset won't give me the sound that I want like a headphone will. Since I already have a Radio Shack mic (works perfect for comms and only $7 to boot 😉 ). I will just attach it to the cord of my new headphones. I am currently looking at a few:

KOSS PRO4AAT $62.99

Koss Pro-4AA Studio Quality Headphones $58.99

SONY Studio Monitor MDR-V700DJ $92.99

The first two may need an amp to get the volume I want, but I know I'll get good quality sound! 🙂
