headset for both next gen systems?

Is there a surround headset that works for game and chat out of the box for both systems? I got a Xbox one stereo headset off craigslist for $20 a few weeks ago and its the only headset that I know of that works on both systems out of the box.

Its nice to have one headset for both systems but the stereo only sucks when I play bf4 on ps4.

TLDR:
Is there a surround headset that works for ps4 and Xbox one right out of the box for game and chat audio?
What headset are you using with your ps4/Xbox one and why?

Don't have anything besides the ones that came with them and a home theater, but also interested in a headset with a mic.

I am using a X41 and a PX4 for audio for both. Using an Optical out from my TV, it allows me to use either for my PC or regular TV watching as well. With the Xbox and Xbox one they are really easy to use with the controller at that point because they just need to have a 8th inch speaker cable that needs to get plugged into the controller. For the xbone you need the headset adapter for this.

The X41 wouldn't work great for chat on the PS3/PS4. For multiple reasons. Besides the fact that its old, the PX4 links up to the Sony systems (and the base module) through BT. Using the BT Voice profile on the systems and the BT audio profile on the module. I can't speak for the how great the PX4 voice is on the PS3 and PS4 because I don't play any MP games on those for various reasons. Also I should note that I don't know of a non-MS headset yet that can plug into the controller natively. Still I am quite fond of my PX4.

I hate surround headsets, the surround is usually faked from only 2 drivers anyway. They just aren't discreet enough. A good stereo set usually sounds better to me.

The astro mixamp will work with any console via optical though. Then you just plug your headset into it and a wire to your controller for chat.

I agree an try not to use it for movies and more cinematic games as possible. But there are other noise limiting reasons to rather have semi fake surround than just bland Stereo. It can also make all the difference in the world when playing competitive MP.

Yup it definitely does make a difference playing multi-player games. You really can hear the surrounding effect. I've had ones from Creative for my PC, Tritton wired and now the Sony Gold headset. The thing with the Mixamp is that it's expensive and is wired. I need wireless in my apartment.

What american gunner is saying is he has traded a PS4 for an XB1 then back to PS4 then both lol.

I got that. What I was saying is his question is is console neutral, probably if your right (lol that is a little crazy) so he if continues on his swapping ways he will be unaffected. That's why I would still recommend the PX4 its about the most device agnostic wireless head set i can find. its one and only downside is needing the MS adapter for the controller on the Xbone.

Should note the the XP510 truly supports all the devices out of the box but its $100 more and its advantage is that it comes woth a BT adapter that works on the One. What I don't know is why the XP400 requires a chat cable to work with the PS4. but now that I think about that might be a cheaper solution than buying the headset adapter for One controller.

Yeah, you got it.

I had to make sure which one I liked so I wouldn't regret the purchase later.

The Microsoft stereo headset works with both systems out of the box but it isn't surround. I don't want to spend $200 buying a headset for each system. Looks like I'll keep waiting and see if anything shows up online
