Can you just simply add a windscreen to a mic, without any negative impact?

I'm looking at the Plantronics Savi W745 to use for working from home. A concern of mine is one complaint I have heard, that while it has superior audio and is built better than competing headsets, it has noticeably weaker noise suppression, specifically against wind, and some report some wind buffeting even from speaking.

Sometimes it is just a matter of dialing in the microphone sensitivity, yes, but I noticed there is no windscreen on the mic, unlike a lot of call center-style headsets.

No problem using a no-windscreen headset mic indoors as long as the mic is not in front of my nose or mouth. I position it a couple inches off to the side of my mouth.

The one exception - if I am walking briskly down the hall while on a call, it will pick up a little noise from the air going by.

Sure. But perhaps I want to go out on the patio if it's a nice day.

Or the way I talk just makes it more of a problem. I dunno, haven't dealt with headsets much at all. But these, the mic boom isn't adjustable AFAIK, so where it lands on the face is basically where it will stay. If it ends up being too close to my mouth that could be an issue.

Just wondering if adding one can be of benefit without any negative effects.
