Found ADM Retail Box 3400 Athlon 64 processor for $189.80 + shipping at Compu-terra.com. Thought this was a real great price for a retail box processor.........Ken

hmm i wonder how much shipping is. newegg has the cpu for cheap http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103488 i usually dont use the stock h/s fan compu-terra.com resellerratings are pretty poor so i dont know if that website has any credibility or not with its customers.

Buy the OEM one off Newegg for $179. That's a fantastic price for a 2.4ghz processor. I wonder if it could overclock any.

It's S754 so he/she shouldn't have expected a Venice. There's no OPN but 2.2 GHz + 1 Mb L2 = claw(?). That would be a good deal at $161 (though eNET's reseller ratings might be a concern).

Re: "blahh" - is there an A64 3400+ that's not S754?

Edit: found the S939 ADA3400DEP4AZ (apparently a 3500+ w/800 MHz HTT) - couldn't find one for sale though.

You guys should check my signature before jump to conclusions, and i will like to tell you that this processor is the fastest AMD in the market today specially after overclocking it to 2.8 it can beat any AMD single core Processor out there.

i made the mistake of getting one of these... it runs very hot, doesn't oc much...

my 939's are much better...

You are definately mistaking Newcastle with Clawhammer. I have Newcastle and after all this Overclocking it runs cool at 43C Idle- Full 52C Load. If i don;t overclock at all it runs under 30C all the time even in full load.

OK, I should have checked. After waiting 8 days for my new cpu to arrive I get a call from Compu-terra. By the way, I wanted the retail box for the 3 year warranty. I call C-T back and they tell me the cpu is not available but will upgrade me to the newer 3400 processor which comes with a 3 year amd warranty and include an amd HSF. I ask what's this going to cost? Just another $22. At this point I told them to cancel my order. Now it's down to $10 for the upgrade. Told them to cancel again. Now its at the same price as I originally ordered. I told them I had all of the parts to build my new pc for over a week and asked how long before I got my cpu and hsf. Told me 7 - 10 days. Told them once again to cancel my order. Now they will include upgraded shipping to keep me happy. My delivery date is Aug 3. I think they where trying to shake me down for more money. I will wait to see what I get from them next week. I will not order from them again and recommend for others to stay away.

Um, I have a clawhammer (1meg RULES); before I threw my tv tuner in, which gets murdered my changing the fsb, I had it just fine at 2574(234x11). The only thing stopping me then from going farther was my built in RAID chip crapping out and screwing windows. And that was with stock cooling and no vcore changes. If you look at the ratio that?s .17 percent faster compare to a newcastle @ 2.8, which only .1667. So don?t go dissing my clawhammer unless you know what you?re talking about. The stock temp I was getting when I first installed was 39C under no load, I don?t think you can consider 54C OCed at full load, running hot. God, my 6800gt doesn?t even go that low.

LMAO have u been living in a cave??? any 90nm chip running 100mhz or 200mhz less than that will rape it since its single channel! (in almost everything except for things that are purely mhz bound)

i used to have a 3400+ newcastle and my venice 3500+ raped it running over 100mhz slower!

try to test ur cpu against a fx, almost any fx, not even the 55, or better yet, the 57

ROFL

who dissed u? i couldnt find it

i dont see how he was aiming at u

anyways, hes correct about 939's running cooler in general and generally having a higher success rate at overclocking

but if he really wants to complain about a hot processor, he should try a dual core! those f@ckers are HAWT
