I'm currently using a pair of Sennheiser 202's. But they just arent doing it for me anymore. I'm looking to upgrade to another set of sealed cans. I want sealed headphones because I want to use them at work, and the guy I work with is sort of touchy about music, plus my workplace is somewhat noisy on occasion. I dont want a set of in the ear headphones since I do have to get up from my desk at least a dozen times, and I hear that putting them in and taking them out 10+ times a day makes your ears hurt. So right now I'm looking at the Sennheiser 280's. I dont want to go over $100, shipped. On that budget, the 280's seem to be the most headphone I can get, but I'm willing to listen to other options.

BTW, I'll be plugging this into the soundcard on the back of my work PC. I dont know if that will be a problem, though I think it may be a limiting factor in sound quality.

an amp is out of your price range and i haven't seen anything thing better than the 280's for sealed cans. the only other way to go is canal buds but i haven't usead any of those but have heard good things. there's a guy in FS/FT selling the 280's for like $65

Definitely. I bought a pair for like $60 more than a year ago (courtesy of hot deals), and I couldn't be happier with them. The sound quality is top notch...and they're VERY comfortable. I took'em on my trans-pacific flight (to China), and I wore them for most of the middle leg (12 hour flight).

And a cheap soundcard or integrated audio will be able to drive them without an amp, right?

And will always help...driving them directly from the computer will just never be quite as nice. As for around $100, my friend just picked up a pair of Grado SR80s for 80 something, but we know the owner of the store...online, I think you're looking around 95 or something. Granted, the SR80s don't fit your description quite well since they're not sealed...doh.

Have you tried doing a search in OT for 'headphones'? You may be surprised in what results you find.

I have, but I wanted to see people's opinions when given my budget and need for a set of sealed headphones.

Well, you could spend $16 more and get the A500s. Guys over on Head-Fi seem to like them over the 280s. My A500s are very comfortable and sound great, and are easily driven by low power sources.
