i need a good pair of headphones for under 50 bucks. they dont need to be portable. is it better to have noise cancelling? i head sennheiser was a good brand. i found this deal in the hot deals forums:

SENNHEISER HD212 PRO Stereo Headphone -RETAIL I have these and like them a lot, although I must admit I have never had "good" headphones before. Just some cheap sony in the ear models.

These phones are biased to the low end of the audio spectrum. I like the bass guitar, and these let me hear a lot of low end. They are comfortable.

edit: they are 49 plus shipping.

i've had the audio 90's for about a year now and they've been great for me.

open if you use at home. closed if you need isolation and no sound leakage in public. noise cancelation only works with lower freq noise..rest has to be muffled out by the sealed headphones...only for planes and such

Yep 497s are far superior. All things being equal, open headphones will almost always sound better than closed ones.

what exactly does "open" mean? they both look like they cover your ear. isn't it always important to eliminate outside noise? im only going to be listening to them in my room so its not THAT big of a deal. so the 497's sound better? i guess im going with those. there is always trhe 280 pros but they're a little out of my price range at 100 bucks.
