Is there any headphones that can do this or do I have to buy speakers to be able to do this ? I really don't want to buy speakers because I can't watch movies at anytime with speakers going. It would be just to loud and people would start complaining I bet. I know I could always make the theater room sound proof but that would be more money than its worth.

I think that is the main problem with headphones, you just can't recreate the feel of speakers, especially the boom of a subwoofer. The closest I've heard has been my modified Beyerdynamic DT770s, which had some pretty amazing bass.

There are a couple of things that can help. You could have a reciever and hookup the headphones and a sub, or you could use bass shakers instead of the sub (or both). The sub would be an issue as far as external effect (noise and the actual thuds), but I don't think the bass shakers are quite a real substitute for a sub.

The UE-10's are far from bass-heavy IEM's. What they do, however, is produce the most realistic, natural sound, exactly like it was intended to be heard. If you like huge explosions, I wouldn't go with the UE-10's. I've got the UE-5c's, which are the entry-level customs from UE, and they're more designed for what you want; casual, fun listening, unlike the UE-10's, which are very analytical. The UE-5c's aren't really basshead IEM's either, but they definitely provide a punch when needed. I'd check out the UE super.fi 5 EB. They're designed with bass in mind, and if you really like bass, they're probably your best bet, though not custom phones.

I'd check out the UE-5c. It seems to have disappeared from UE's website, so give them a call. I'm unsure about the difference between the UE-5c and the UE-5Pro, so see if they can help you out as to what would be best.

What about good wireless ones for movie watching please? Are there any worth getting ? I would love to be able to lay down and not have to worry about getting tangled in a wire or pulling the wire out of the headphones.

I haven't seen any wireless IEM's, although thinking again I think there were a pair of ety's that were bluetooth. Either way, I'm against wireless audio.

Most "subwoofer like" headphones out of the ones I have owned/tried are the Sennheiser PC100's. Surprisingly cheap but really have some great deep bass to them if you like that. But again, they are normal over the ear headphones.

I'll disagree with you. I found the PC100's way too bassy, to the point where all the detail was lost to the overwhelming bass. Of course, everyones ears are different, just throwing in my two cents.

That's exactly my point though. For someone who is looking to "feel" the bass like a subwoofer, I think they DO do that. They aren't perfect by any means, but I do think they don't feel like your listening to headphones when you use them.

Compared to my HD555's they do sound much more similar to a home theater setup due to how much bass they have.

And just an FYI to the OP, I meant the PX100's.

Is there any good headphones that you put inside your ears that have the great subwoofer like deep bass like the PX100s ? This way I can at least lay down and watch my movies or tv.

You should check out the JVC FX-33 (aka Marshmallows), they're pretty good. They have pretty significant bass. If nothing else you're not out much money.

Thanks the question though is it really worth getting very expensive headphones vs these for movie and tv watching ? Right now I have some pretty good headphones HD 280 Pro but I can't lay down with them on my ears. I liked them for the few years I had them but would like being able to get headphones that sound better, have more movie like watching sound like you get in the theater, if thats even possible on any headphones, and being able to use them when I lay down.

I really wish they had wireless headphones that had good sound quality. I hate the wire so much.

If you want the bass feeling but not the sound, couldn't you just wire up a buttkicker or two to your chair or couch and combine it with headphones for the audio?

Wow cool never heard of this before. Looks awesome and seems by the reviews it actually works. :Q

Though a lot of people saying it doesn't replace a subwoofer :( Do you need a subwoofer and speakers to be able to get this to work because I don't have that?

Which ButtKicker is better to get ? The gamer version that is like $100 or the whole kit that is like $399 to $599 depends if you buy it online or retail?

This sort of thing was mentioned in the first reply to your thread.

The reason it doesn't replace a sub is that it pretty much just gives you physical vibrations on whatever you have attached to it rather than moving a lot of air in the room to create sound. If what you're missing is tactile bass (which is what it sounds like you're looking for), then I think this would be a good idea for you to add to whatever headphone set you end up getting.

I don't have a buttkicker, but I got 4 aura bass shakers and a cheapo receiver to power them going for just over $100 total.

You don't need to have a speaker set to use one of these. You do need an amp of some kind though and you'd want it to have volume / gain control (unless you get a whole kit that comes with one already).

As an alternative to the buttkicker, you can also search for "tactile" at partsexpress and see what's available. (Aura / Clark Synthesis)

Senn 595's don't have eye popping bass though... maybe a beyer DT 770/80 ohm pro for a huge amount of bass.
