Headphones + speakers = buzzing

I have a nice, but fairly old set of speakers in my room, and lately for some reason when i plug my headphones (or any headphones) into them i get a slight constant buzzing sound in the background, which is kind of annoying. Anyone know what would cause that?

Buzzing noise from/in the headphones or the speakers?

It's probably a old/dodgy connection - I have some old Boston Accoustic speakers where the connection has to be plugged in just right or I get a loud 'buzz'

It's from the headphones, but when the speakers are on without headphones, there is no buzzing. I can't wiggle it to where the buzzing sound goes away. The buzz can be louder depending on which headphones i use.
