I bought a set of these sony headphones for a buck at a garage sell. The end of it was cut off bcuz they needed the end for something else. Well I figured just get a good end and connect them right? Well I connected them right or atleast I think I did.

No go cant get any sound out. In each tube thingy there is a color wire/string like stuff and a copper wire. One tube has a green wire and a coppper wire twisted with the string stuff and the other tube has red wire and copper wire both twisted with the string stuff.

whats the purpose of the stringy stuff? whats the purpose of the colored wires?

any ideas why it aint working?

could be the speakers in the headphones but its in brand new condition.

help!:(

The colored wires are the L/R channel. The copper wire/stringy stuff is the shield. When you put a new end on it, tie the shields together and to the ground side of the 1/4 jack. The other two colored wires go to the other two connections in the jack (the tip and the middle section).
