Headphones for working out: Ear buds, clip on, regular?

Which type of headphones do you recommend for working out at the gym?

1) The ear bud type that you stick in each ear.
2) The clip on ones that hook onto each ear.
3) The traditional over the head headband type.

3) - with over the ear headphones - block out all attempts from people who are *working out* from talking to you.

I actually find that in-ear headphones do a better job of that, at least at a lower volume. You can certainly blast out ambient noise with over-ear headphones better, though.

Anyway, I wear some cheap Sony ear clips. They get the job done pretty well. They won't get disloged or anything during cardio, and they're lightweight and comfortable. That's just my preference, though.
