headphones for under 800$

bose headphones are over rated, but since you feel like spending 700 hundred dollars, buy them anyways. spend the rest of the money on something worthwhile.

I'd say just get some $150-$250 cans and save the rest for higher end everything else.

Spending any more than that and it's just nothing more than bragging rights. It's a dimishing return that only the most elite audiosnobs can tell a difference from.

Do you have to buy this from a particular brand/retailer? And what all is included? Amps? Speakers? Subs? Car audio equipment?

cool. Wish I could help you but I'm not in the know on headphones.

I can however be very helpful for the other stuff. Don't know if you want a really nice 2-channel or 6.1 setup however.

With that kind of cash to spend I'd be looking at Sennheiser's high end (HD650) as well as high end Grado (RS series).

Do you plan to spend money on a high end headphone amp too? If not I'd limit yourself to maybe $200, no sense spending more without something good to feed them.

I would also consider a pair of custom molded canalphones such as these

Viper GTS

ATH-W1000 if it's from musciansfriend list.
The thing is beautifully crafted. It will give you the best resell value I think.

I just looked through their site quickly... how do they expect you to spend $8000 on audio equipment? (maybe I'm missing something)

EDIT: do you have to buy from that site?

Alright, ill be the first to say dont buy the wireless headphones, they may work (decently), but really, with the kind of cash you are going to spend, i would forget about those. Go with a high end headphone (sennheiser, grado, whatever) and try to keep a budget for an amp. The heapdhones will sound decent unamped, but to really see how they shine, you really do need an amp.

Somehow I managed to live life and never encounter a life-stage where I had $800 to blow on headphones. If at all possible buy stuff you can return for cash or that you have a reasonable chance of selling on eBay for cash. $8000 is way too much for a audio system.
