Senheires?

$100 > $80, if you didn't notice, and they're far from the best headphones you can get.

Hahhaahahah. The Senn HD280s are probably the best bang for the buck you can get for sealed headphones. I think I paid $85 for mine.

And if you read reviews on them, they are comprable to $200 headphones.

Based on the " far from the best headphones you can get" copmment, you must be a Bose fan. Possibly a Sony headphone owner also.

I have them too, but obviously they're not the best headphones you can get 😕

You're way out of line about Howard's tastes.

I paid $60 for my 280s, but $79.99 from ZZF looks like a pretty good deal at the moment.

Sony mdr-v300 = ~$50, i like them, comfortable, not too large and pretty good sound (although def not good enough for an audiophile)

I agree. The 280s are merely ok. Too much $$$ imo. I recently got a set and have to say that, IMO, they dont live up to the hype you read about everywhere. They are like vise grips on the head, they cant take nearly half the volume that my Sony MDR-v7000DJ, my Denon HD-750s or my Sony MDR-V6 (15 yrs ago version). They clip like mad! They sound good at a low volume but professional? Not even close. I have mine burning in for 4 days now to see if they warm up a bit, otherwise the the FS forum they go. My MDR-V7000DJ has never clipped on me and takes everything I throw at it. After a few hours my head feels like I just came out of a rock concert! 🙂 The Denons are even better. I dont see what the hype is on the HD-280. My Sennheiser 465 finally warmed up and are better sounding for me than the 280s. Plus they weigh like half of what the 280s weigh. Its a shame because I own several sets of Sennheisers and the 280s are my least favorite. Weird cuz everyone else loves em. Too bad they just cant take the power. My 2 cents.

Still haven't decided...

save up another $20-$30 and get the Senn 555s. I'm no audiophile but they sound amazing (better than any sub-$100 phone I've heard) and are very comfortable. The only thing I wish they sometimes had is noise-cancelling, but it's not that big of a deal.

For under $100, the noise canceling will not be that good anyways.....

Officedepot had some Phillips headphones for $37 after a 50% discount. I picked them up. They sound good, but not the best, but for they are probably the best you can get for $37. I have tried some SENNHEISER's heaphone that everyone raved about before, and they sound good also.

As for the Far from the best headphones you can get comment, you obvioulsy never heard Grados. They are by far the best, IMO . Their dynmaic range is incredible, but they will cost you an arm and a leg. For value however, Sennheiser is a pretty good value for under $100.00.

I have them. They suck!

J/K 🙂

I did listen to them once at some upscale Manhattan hi-fi store (forgot the name) and once those tubes are warmed up, they sounded phenominal! I brought in my own cds and my old highend portable cd player and hooked it up to them and was in bliss! The guy actually thought I was gonna buy one. Little did he know that the only reason I was wearing a suit was because I was on a job interview! The look on his face, and mine for that matter, when he told me the price and I told him "where he can go", was priceless.
