Since dorm rooms are pretty small, I definitely don't want to carry around my Altec Lansing speaker system. I also want to keep noise down so my roommate and the guy next door can keep sleeping when I start my trance sessions.

I'm not wanting to go over $50 for this purchase since I spent most of my money on my computer. I want the type that covers my whole entire ear, not the ones that plug into my ear. Please give suggestions, TIA.

Get those $20 earbuds that are in hot deals. I forgot what they're called. But they're bassy canalphones.

should answer most of your questions with a level of intensity about headphones most of us can only dream of... and LMAO at the "stock iPod earbuds" comment! Try out some decent cans or canalphones and see how wrong that is. :p

I don't quite understand that, I mean they are going to sit in your room. You're very mistaken if you believe other people aren't going to have their loud speakers at school.

280's. gotta be closed for that app. noise canceling circuitry works for droning noise/mechanical noise only. like engine/airplane noise. its useless for dorm.

I have a set of Logitech Z-2300's that I listen to the bulk of my music on.

I use headphones when one of my suite-mates is sleeping or studying.

Bring speakers. Everyone else does.
