Headphones creaking

I recently got some audio-technica ATH-A900 headphones (the nicest headphones I've ever had I must say) but the right earphone creaks and squeaks when its moved in the slightest way. The parts creaking are durable plastic, but I once heard I can't use WD40 on plastic. What should I do to fix this? (I don't really want to ship them all the way back to Japan)
