Headphone speakers - nothing on right ear

I'm running the X-Mystique 7.1 Gold sound card, about 3 years old now.

My headphones broke on me a yesterday. The right side of the ear piece fell disconnected from the head phone set. All sound in the right ear was gone, even though the wire was still connected. The break was located at the place the ear piece was mounted to the headphones.

First thing I did was unplug the headphones, and grab a new pair.

This new pair of headphones works on my laptop, but when on my main computer, the right ear no longer produces sound.

When I use the Digital Out plug to my home theater system, all of the speakers work correctly.

When I use the C-Media PCI Audio program to manage my sound settings, I can send signals to the left/right side of my headphones. The left side I can hear the tests, but not on the right side.

Everything was working until the headphone I was using broke last night.

I'm not sure if it is possible that some sort of shock was sent to the sound card, disabling something with the right side of the headphones or what....

Any ideas on this one guys?

I don't understand why the card would be broken because a headphone piece fell off. What makes you think that could cause the card to go bad?

When the head piece fell off it may have caused a short in the right wire that may have damaged part of the card.
