Headphone recommendation

I want to get some new headphones to replace a set of etymotic er6-i's that I lost over the weekend. I thought they sounded really good except for a total lack of bass impact, which bothered me. I'm looking for something roughly $100, I can go a little over but would be happy to save some too. Probably driven off an iPod 90% of the time, mostly rock and hiphop and occasional gaming late at night. Some degree of portability is necessary, but I'm not terribly picky about style - canal, buds, over the top, etc. Anyone have some suggestions?

Love Sennheiser HD280 Pros. Are somewhat a full-sized headphone, so you can't transport them in your pocket and may look like a geek wearing them but they sound great for hiphop. It depends how you like your rock to sound, as the 280s sometimes make some rock sound lifeless without much warmth (mostly the low-end guitar sound and the hum of the bass guitar.). The bass extension is great, you'll feel the bass inside your head in hiphop, but not so much the punch like a kick drum or subwoffer. A great demo track I love playing for people is Outkast - Intro on The Low Below as it has great low extension and really shows off the bass the headphones are capable of. You can pick them up on Head-Fi (sig) For Sale forums usually for about $70 shipped.

I too didn't like the er-6i's that much and they were pretty uncomfortable for me after a while. The 280s compared to them sound more natural and more full but not quite a flawless headphone, and took a few weeks of getting accustomed to the sound.

Agree with the E3c, their sound, price and portability are exactly what you're looking for. While the 280s are good phones, they're not portable at all. They're also neutral phones, like the er6 - a sound you don't care for.

bose triports if you can swing it. They sound awesome regardless of what anyone says about bose's loudspeakers
