This is a question about my mp3 player, a Rio 600 with 64 MB of memory. My headphones got cut and thus they died, so I went to the store today and bought a new pair, only to find the sound is not nearly as sharp. The new set is a $10 Labtech pair. This may be a stupid question, but do I need special headphones for my mp3 player? Or, do I just need to spend more money? The mp3 player only cost me $100, so I don't want to spend a ton. help!

You don't need a specific headphone, but my guess is that the $10 one isn't as adequate to produce premium sound. I dont have a recommendation but try a $20+ one to see if they perform better.

You will find that the more you spend, the better the quality you will get.

The headphones that come with walkmans etc, are designed to sound perfect (Basically they are the perfect couple if ya know what i mean)

if you want regular cans, the Grade SR-60's are a great choice for about $70, and if you want Earbuds, the sony Fontopia 20th Anniversary set are also great, for about $40 shipped. i own both and i like them very much.

Really? I always thought that the ones that came with walkmans etc were the cheapest the company could find... Otherwise, there would be a pretty small market for aftermarket headphones.

I agree! I have a pair of SR-60s, and one of the best investment i've ever spent.
