Hello, I need help finding some headphone/mic headsets to use for mostly gaming.Below are some of my wishes for them.

1 $150 usd or less
2 comfort, comfort, comfort (big head here..lol)(I wear ball cap constantly)
3 covers ears (old headset kills my ears after a couple hrs use)
4 non-usb type ( can plug directly into back of my tower)
5 dont require sound card or other amplification
6 would like an adjustable mic boom (bendable) ( not a definate must have tho)
7 I'm not an audiophile, but do like good sound(hate tinney soundy headsets w/little or no bass)

I appreciate any help with this search.
Thank you

Mostly just agreeing with the other guys above... If you have any doubts, send those Senns back. Don't waste money on integrated boom mics. If you insist on the boom, Beyer DT234Pro is ok, but you could easily get some cheaper Beyers and attach a mic with the same or better results. AudioTechnica ATH-AD700s with Zalman clipon simply have no competitor in this price range, though. They would sound a lot better and cost the same or less than those Sennheisers, and they meet every single requirement of yours except the bendable boom.

Edit: AKG K601s are also great, but a little out of your price range.

I have the A700, which is the closed version. They offer slightly more bass than the AD700, but both AD700 and A700 are both bass anemic.

I use my webcam's microphone with noise cancellation, but the Zalman also works well as a near field microphone.

I also have the A700s, and while they may lack some bass, I don't find this detracts from gaming. And they by no means sound "tinny" as the OP is trying to avoid. I still maintain you can't beat the AD700s for gaming in this price bracket.

They're not perfect but you're right, they're probably the best value. They are insanely comfortable on a big head, I can verify that. :p

Get the A700 though... same imagining, but with better bass. ;)

The A700s are great if you need/like a closed design or, yes, if you prefer the better bass. But I disagree that the imaging is the same. The AD700s have a more spacious soundstage to my ears, and are better for gaming because of the resultant superior positioning. This is highly subjective, of course.

Anyway, sorry to derail... Hope the OP enjoys whatever set he settles on. Martman, did you receive your Sennheisers? Impressions?

Yes I have recieved them. After almost a week of use they are exactly what I was hopeing.
Yes they are a little pricey, but they fit my needs perfectly. I race online for several hours at a time, while useing ventrillo and teamspeak. These are very comfortable and have yet to take them off due to headaches or ears hurting. I am also playing through F.E.A.R. 2 atm as well and they sound great with it. Granted, as I originally posted, I am not an audiophile and listen to very little music on my pc.Altogether I am well pleased.

Glad to hear it. How's the mic quality? Does the boom feel fragile? Any integrated headset I've tried before has either had bad headphones, a bad mic, a cheap and easily breakable boom, or a combination of these... which is why I tend to recommend buying separate headphones and a clip-on mic. Sounds like your Senns turned out to be the complete package for you, which is great.

As for the mic quality...my team mates tell me it is very clear and no background humm or buzz. The boom is very robust..not fragile feeling at all. It is about 1/2 inch wide and 1/4 inch thick with an aprox. 2 inch or so bendable section in the middle. The boom can be moved straight up to move out of the way if needing that shot of energy drink...lol.
I've owned stereo headphones in the past that completely cover the ears..but these are without a doubt the most comfortable I've ever owned.( I wear a ballcap almost 24/7 and they are very comfortable even then)
