HeadPhone jack broke, now no sound at all - Presario 3000

Got this laptop as-is from my sister and managed to get it working again.

But noticed now that there is no sound.
When i got it from her,she said a portable TV somehow fell over on it messing up the screen, which i fixed.but it seems it also broke off the headphone jack inside the laptop ad now i get no sound through the speakers.

Had it apart and everything looks good other then the jack that broke.

Any chance to disable this jack? i beleive it somehow thinks the headphones are hooked in since its broke.and i think the jack is un repairable. (not able to resolder back on)

And it seems the card is working fine.uninstalled/reinstalled and it works flawless.
can even play sounds/videos with no errors.just not getting any sound.

Any advice on this would be great.

Thanks.

Those headphone jacks are actually two devices in one package. One device connects the signal to the headphones, and the other device is a switch that disables the onboard speakers when you plug something in. It's a simple SPST, or DPST switch that connects to turn the speakers ON, and disconnects to turn the speakers OFF.

That would explain why your onboards don't work.

This is essentially a simple problem to fix, however, if you need help, you can send it my way and I'll either replace the jack or disable the jack alltogether while keeping the onboards working. Feel free to browse my heatware and ebay stuff if you're concerned with legitimacy.

Hope this helps
Josh
