Headphone cord has some wicked tangles in it after a couple years of use. Anyway to get it straightened out again? Gotta be careful not to damage it. It's a pretty thick cord, fabric lined. Maybe leave some mini clamps on it for a while?

What I do is I put one end of the wire under one of my couch legs and then dangle the headset off the top of the couch so the wire is taut and straight. I leave it overnight or longer and the kinks slowly weaken.

If it's more fragile I'll do put the wire under a couch leg then simply put the headset on the opposite side of the room with the cord taut

heat it up lightly and straighten out, or leave extended for long period of time to straighten out

Buy the Monster ones, I have them and it's fucking impossible to tangle the cord. I've tried a dozen times and it just doesn't work. To boot they sound pretty good, even if they are expensive. The sound quality + no tangle cord makes them pure win.

Think I'll avoid trying to heat up the wires...could lead to problems. Maybe some clamps.

The clamps!

Futurama references are always appropriate. Also, pick it up, let it dangle and it will straighten itself out.
OR, cordless. I recommend cordless.
