I bought a pair of Sennheiser HD535 headphones and while they sound nice, they really do need an amp. I was wondering if anyone knew of where i could buy a nice portable headphone amp. I want to get one for as cheap as I can. Anyone have any leads for me? Oh and incase it matters the headphones are 150ohms. Thanks for any help you can be.

for those headphones, i would probably get a total airhead from headphone.com (headroom). i'm not sure how well the 535 performs, but i rememmber that anything under the 580 (in the 500 series) didnt sound all that great. not sure, if i was in your position, i would jump to grados, since they don't need an amp. but if senns suit your taste in audio, sure as hell stick with em.

I thought they sounded nice and were pretty compfortable so i would like to keep them. I did see the total airhead but i was hoping for something cheaper. I didnt really want to spend like twice as much for the amp as i did the headphones. Are there any other options that are cheaper?

hmm, maybe a little less for the airhead, but i wouldn't do it. and don't look for the boostaroo amp, it's NOT what you need.

ahh, i haven't heard of those dsp thingies, i'm not sure about their build/quality. check out headphone.com, and their list of headphones. they have ratings. well, headwize.com is down as of this moment, and it was the #1 place to go for headphone questions.

Thanks for all your help. I have checked headphone.com but they didnt mention them, and i did see headwize.com and also noticed it was down. The DSP thing is kind of neat, if gives you Dolby Digital(i think) 3D sound on headphones or so they say. It is also supposed to act as a headphone amp. They come with the HD535s now i guess for about an extra $40 over what i paid. Any one else have any comments?
