I know you are supposed to use a headphone amp with the nicer headphones out there, but what about the jack on a klipsch 2.1 setup. I have read one review that claimed it was an amplified headphone jack.... any comments?

Couldn't tell ya for sure, but I use my Sony MDR-7506's through my Klipsch 2.1 jack. It gets pretty freakin' loud (I can't turn it up more than about halfway), so I wouldn't be surprised if it was an amp of some sort.

I just bought a Klipsch 2.1 system today and from what I remember the manual didn't specifically say whether the headphone jack is amplified. The MP3/aux input had 6 db boost to compensate for weak portable players (from users manual). I would assume it is. Just plug in your headphones and see if they get loud...then you will know!

I just got a pair of Grado SR60's and I plugged them into the versa-jack on my Santa Cruz. Worked fine. After reading this thread, i plugged them into the speaker jack on the Klispch and seems they are louder there. Really doesn't seem to matter which jack is used, both places sound great.
