headlight replacement poll. by pair or one?

Ok, I thought it was the norm to replace headlamps in pairs when one burns out to ensure uniformity and so that other one doesn't die soon after replacing one..

depends...if its cuz of age. then pairs...but if you just got a fairly new one...and it got busted some how..(hit?) then one...

Pairs, but it depends on how the bulb burned out, or what caused it. Generally, when replacing halogen bulbs, I also pull out the unburnt one and look at the filament to see how much it has worn. If it has worn significantly, then pairs it is. But, if it is relatively new (less than 100hrs), and the filament looks fine, then just replace the one that burnt out. Bulbs are an inexpensive maintenence and safety item on the car.

This is completely different if the bulbs are gas discharge; I would always replace in pairs on gas discharge because of the color shift that happens in gas discharge bulbs, and that with use, gas discharge bulbs do have decrease in output.

If your a light in your house burns out, do you go around replacing all of the lights in the house with new bulbs?

😛 (Please don't start a new poll 🙂 )

Depends.

If it's something like a chandelier above the staircase that's EXTREMELY difficult to get to, I think replacing all lamps is justified if you've haven't replaced any in a long time and you're going through the trouble of replacing one.
