Some work better than others. The ones with multiple abrasive pads, friction lubricant and sealant typically work the best but require a bit of prep work and, as EagleKeeper mentioned above, a lot of elbow grease.

Follow the instructions and work in finer and finer grades of sanding disc and you should have excellent results.
 
I used the turtle wax restore kit on my old mustang and it cleared the fog up about 60%. Make sure you use a sealant or else it will be foggy again in no time.

Actually, it may more be ino,uno,shitto's insane arguments that corrupted that rather informative thread and made it almost impossible to read.

If you can weed out ino's blathering, good advice in there.
 
Get the kit that has the drill attachment buffing pad like the 3M kit. Your elbows will thank you.
