I have a cheap old Energizer that someone bought me for my birthday a long time ago. It still works, but won't stay in position anymore.

So last year I got a Black Diamond Storm. It's great - I bought it for its high lumens and also because it is waterproof, which most headlamps are not. I think I paid around $70 for mine, but Amazon had them for $23 as recently as last week. My one complaint is that it is too complex to use - it has something like 20 different modes, and they are all accessed by various combinations of push button/hold button/tap side X times.

I have a Nitecore HC30, used mainly for working on cars and walking my dog after work. Uses 18650 batteries, which works for me because my other flashlights use the same. Since this light is on for sometimes hours at a time, it is useful to have rechargable batteries that can last a while.
