What kind of trouble should I get I to there?

I went to NOLA last week and kept things tame because of the hurricane situation.

Look up Nik and Broyphyte...they're both old-time AT'ers.(IIRC, Nik was permabanned long ago, Bryo just doesn't come here anymore)
("Yes, Nik, this is my desk" should ring a bell)

Otherwise, even though I'm only about 4 hours from Portland, I avoid it like the plague. Too busy, traffic sucks, too much crime.

Cruise up the Columbia River Gorge to Hood River. Nice town, good views of Mt Hood. Go other direction to the ocean. Portland itself is okay.

I have a cousin there that's been working for some shoe company there for the past 25 years. He offered to show me around, this weekend, but after that no idea what to do downtown.

So crime is bad down there?

Wait..what part of Portland are you going to?

I'm in downtown.
I'm downtown too. I got in yesterday afternoon around 3pm and hit up Washington Park for the rose garden, Council Crest, the Falls on the way to Hood River for a late dinner and Columbia River Gorge before heading back.

How was that for you?
Great. I went to Indian and Cannon Beaches for some hiking/climbs.....ate a bagel and lox for lunch...then came back downtown. It was neat seeing the 15 degree difference between the city and the coast.

we have a beach lot for that purpose, the rare days it gets really hot we head down there. Nice to always have a reservation.
