When I went my flight left at 2 pm, but I had to be at the airport by 10. My roommate and I stayed up almost the entire night beforehand. We only slept for 2 hours. It worked out perfectly. I fell asleep about an hour into the flight, woke up for dinner, woke up for breakfast, woke up for landing at 7 am local time. No jet-lag whatsoever.
