Heading out to the AHL Super Skills Competition...

Well, it seems no one cares, but it was an awesome night. Hilbert became the first player in AHL history to get all 4 targets wtih just 4 pucks in the accuracy contest. Spezza had an awesome goal on the pass and shoot relay and won the puck control relay, and to top it off Cammaleri had an insane goal in the breakaway relay.

Te game tomorrow should be awesome.

Oh, and if there is any old time hockey fans around, I was sitting about three seats away from Bill Barbour.

🙂

I'm not sure on Rene, but he pwned the hardest shot competition. His first try was 99.0MPH, but off the post. Everyone thought he won, but the ref waved it off because he didn't hit the net. So, on his second try, he got it dead center, and cranked it up to 99.8MPH. 😀

Yeah, it's on ESPN 2 @ 7pm EST I believe. The Super Skills was on Fox Sports NE.

I was hoping I could get a capture of Cammaleri's breakaway relay shot. He came in on the goalie who had just stopped the first 5 guys, in mid stride, he threw the puck into his feet. It hit the inside of his left foot, he kicked it to his right foot, then kicked it back out in front of him, went around the goalie, and roofed it on his backhand. I was like WTF for like solid 2 minutes. 😀

Needs more link. Maybe it'll make it's way to Sports Centre?

I'll keep an eye out, but I'm not holding my breath. With ESPN most of the time, if it's not NHL hockey...they don't seem to care.

All Star game tonight!!!

🙂

Unfortunately, the NHL is not gaining any fans these days. One thing though, the NHL is not like MLB or the NFL. There are very few "casual" NHL fans. Most hockey fans are hardcore, so they wont be leaving because of the lockout.

I wish they had broadcast the AHL skills competition... I would've watched it (more like taped it)... I would watch the all-star game tonight too... if it weren't V-day... I guess I'll have to tape that ... at least it's being aired.

BTW, Rene Bourque is not Ray's son... Chris Bourque, a Washington Capitals draft choice, is his son. No idea who Rene Bourque is but 99.8mph beats a lot of NHLers. 😉

I'd like to beat a lot of NHLers right about now.

Fox Sports NE had the SS competition on. It was on a tape delay, and was just starting when I got home last night.

Two hours or so until I head out for the game!

🙂
