I'm headed tomorrow to St. Louis for a week of work. I'm staying just outside near the jobsite in St. Peters. Anything I should/shouldn't miss?

Thanks!

Go to the city museum (it's not actually a museum), check out places like Vin De Cette, go to Forest Park and spend some time in the central west end.

never been to vin de set, but we're gonna check it out in a week or so. we wanted to check it out last weekend, but time got away from us. we're thinking about having our rehearsal dinner there.

best restaurant, in my opinion, is ~scape in the central west end... so awesome. i know the staff and they're all great people. the guy who owns it is the head chef and really knows what's up. DEFINITELY go there for a fancy dinner if you've got the time.

city museum is a must.

i love the st. louis zoo... it's the best zoo i've ever been to. if you like animals, check it out.

obviously there's the st. louis arch.

the science museum is pretty cool, especially the planetarium.

i'm a chiropractor in chesterfield, mo (easily one of the best in the greater st. louis area)... integrated sport, spine & wellness... if you're ever around those parts, don't hesitate to call and stop by to say hi.

i have a friend who's a chiropractor in st. peters with your same last name... she's originally from cleveland, though, i think.

anyways, lots of stuff to do in st. louis.

city museum is awesome for all ages

zoo, history, and art museums are all relatively close to each other...and they are free

Botanical gardens may still be nice looking if leave color change hasn't completely phased out yet

Budweiser free tour (and taste testing)

oh yeah, botanical gardens are awesome.

i, personally, have never gone on the budweiser tour... i've lived here about 6 years and still haven't checked it out.

Something you should miss is downtown at night. Science museum is at least decent though.

I disagree, the best restaurant in St Louis is Bahn Mi So 1 on south Grand Blvd. It's the definition of a "mom and pop" store with the 70-something year old mother cooking everything. She can take her some time to get your order ready (like I said, she's 70-something, she doesn't hurry for anyone!) but it's absolutely amazing. Going there is like getting to sit down at a dinner cooked by a friend's Vietnamese grandmother (who's a great chef).

Second choice would be Pappy's Smokehouse in Midtown - great eats. A lot of folks know it as one of the places they visited when the "Man vs. Food" show came to town.

I was down there for a week in September visiting a friend from school. We spent quite a bit of time at Schlafly Taproom. Awesome beer and the people are pretty nifty too. For eats, I'd say the best food I had down there was at the Blues City Deli. Their sandwiches are huge and really, really good!

Also, I second the City Museum. We spent about 6 hours there and I felt like a kid again!

Thanks for all the suggestions ... it really depends on how busy the job I have to do this week is on how much time I'll have to get out and about. Definitely plan on doing some basic sightseeing though, and will check out the Arch, and hopefully this City Museum.

City Museum is Awesome
Take a walk around East St. Louis (kidding)

Did you know that St. Louis is the backdrop for the upcoming Resistance 3 on PS3?

If you come downtown and find the Schnucks Culinaria, it's right across the street from the Old Post Office, which is in the 2nd concept art pic in that link.

I've been to Vin De Sette (sp?) a few times, and it was pretty good.

I have to 2nd EITS comment about Scape. That place is awesome. My brother and his wife threw a dinner party there. We had about 25 people. The chef came out and spent nearly an hour going over the menu with us, giving us samples of different pastas, sauces, etc.

It was kind of expensive, as the "cheeseburger" I got their was about $18, but man on man, was it good. It was actually worth it. You can also hit up the Drunken Fish, which is just down the street from Scape. It's basically a sushi bar.

You're in St Peters, which is not close to the city. I'd go to old town St Charles for post work drinks/happy hour perhaps. That's much closer.

Other than that, just hope the week goes quickly imo.

my gf used to work there and the place next door (crepes, etc., which is just a branch off of scape, both owned by chef eric kelly)... now, everytime we go in, we're treated almost like celebs lol. it's pretty funny.

if you haven't had the malted waffles at scape/crapes, you don't know what you're missing. i used to be a 100% pancakes guy, thinking all waffles were inferior to pancakes. i mean, don't get me wrong... belgian waffles are good and all, but i felt like the best pancakes beat the best waffles anyday. well, after having their waffles, i take it back.

you need to try the ahi tuna tacos as the appetizer at scape... and the roasted artichoke. i never even liked artichokes until my gf made me have one.

the duck confit is absolutely amazing. if you haven't had it already, get it.

also, when you get a chance, try the banana cream pie... best banana cream pie i've ever had.

i love this restaurant.

Actually only the Zoo is free, non-residents have to pay for the Museums and Botanical Gardens, but all are still worth it.

The Brentwood Galleria mall is doing an exhibition of Bodies (the plasticized dead people) if you're up for it.

Never made it into St. Louis proper ... the closest I got was old town St. Charles. Had a great dinner there though. Spent too much damn time at the jobsite, and when I wasn't there, I was working at the hotel trying to get the project off the ground. Thanks for all the great suggestions ... hopefully I'll be back in about 4 months if all goes well ... but we'll see if that comes to fruition.
