I'm looking for a double DIN head unit, mostly for a backup camera and hands free cellphone, is Jensen an acceptable brand? I found one for $185 that appears to do what I need, but I'm a bit surprised at the low price tag, I thought these things were a lot more expensive.

I don't need to be able to play DVD's, and I could get by without the CD player as well, I just need the big screen, phone connection, and backup camera.
I'd certainly look at anything else in that price range.

Thanks.

Just installed a Pioneer FH-X720BT in my F150 a few weeks ago. The Bluetooth hands free is great, comes with a mic you clip on the visor, I put it on the shifter. Rocks the 6x8 Kickers I put in the door. Doesn't support the camera, I think. $149 at Best Buy or Crutchfield.

I'll look into that.

Thanks.

Edit: No backup camera is a deal breaker. Acres of sheet metal and a small rear window make the camera a must have.

Jensen is pretty crummy, it's okay for a budget brand you can buy at Pep Boys. But I wouldn't touch it.

This is probably going to be really good for the money, I have a high end Pioneer unit and it's pretty decent. I'm picky and have never been overly impressed with touch screen head units. I'd suggest Alpine too as a brand to look at, but I doubt they'll have anything even close to your price range - I could be wrong though. I don't keep up on this stuff like I use to.

I'm also a fan of JVC stuff. Both I posted you can buy a back up camera, if you don't want to spend a lot, you can get some really cheap no name ones, but be careful some of them suck. Mine's pretty bad, it's fish eyed like nobodies business. Pioneer comes with a remote, JVC doesn't.

I've had good luck with Pioneer. Alpine is also a top brand.

Personally, I'd steer clear of the Jensen brand.

So like everything else, you get what you pay for.

Since I don't need a high end radio, or the ability to play DVD's, I may just go with a rear view mirror backup camera and skip the hands free for the phone.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Thanks for the suggestions.

It's worth it, especially for Bluetooth audio streaming / music playback.

The resell value for Pioneers and Alpines are really high. I remember I had a single DIN Alpine for 4-5 years that sold for near retail.

Resale is completely inconsequential to me. I honestly don't care if it's value drops to zero the day I install it. It simply has to work.
