Edit: I wonder if it's even possible for Wii developers to create that kind of functionality. The side to side movement would work, but I don't think the forward/backward movement would work unless Nintendo updated the Wii system software.
There's forward/backward for the pool cue in Wii Play, I'm pretty sure.
There is, but I think it uses the motion sensor to detect forward/backward movement. What this guy came up with is possible with full access to what the remote's camera sees; I'm assuming that Nintendo has a layer of abstraction that tells the game the position of the pointer on the screen and its orientation, but the details such as the distance between the dots are hidden. Of course as I noted, even if that functionality isn't there now that doesn't mean it can't be added.
It's a novel concept, but it's a recipe for an unsuccessful game at this point I think.
1. It only works with one player
2. It requires additional hardware (the head sensor)
3. It requires two remotes for one player
