One more: PM now apparently thinks of the new, repulsive logoscreen as a blank screen. It is NOT, it is a PM LOGOSCREEN. Only Pale Moon Face sees it as blank.

Edit: holy Mutha of going down the tubes browsers!!!!! Look wut I just found!!!!

________________________________________________
Another edit: Cept mine now shows about:blank, and while Terie or whatever her name is, managed to get a real blank, mine still opens with the logoscreen. But now I can get rid of it and my head stopped exploding.

I do not wanna think about this anymore. But, the second Pale Moon Face feels entitled to preclude themes and add ons...I am history or rolling back.

Are you sure that you went into 'about:config:' and edited the string 'browser.startup.homepage' to the value 'about:blank' and the string 'browser.newtab.url' to 'about:blank'? If so, it should give you the old blank page for both actions.

Pale Moon was the best browser back then @ version 24 and before, every add-on, site, etc. worked exactly as it did in Firefox. Now it's a completely new crippled browser that offers nothing extra over Firefox except a nicer interface. But it's slower due to their outdated Gecko Engine, doesn't work with 80% of the add-ons, and doesn't play nice with all sites. Bye bye Jupiter Childer enjoy your crippled browser :)

I feel U. But in service of optimism and reasonableness....pls consider hangin in. Given him a chance to reclaim sanity. Positive he eats waaaaay too many refined carbs and that is the problem.

For me, it would be unfair to call it crippled. Mangled a little, sure, but not entirely crippled.

Plus, it did not test positive for Ebola. Which we can not say now for everyone in my City.o_O

I will go back and check. Cause I might have been in an altered state when I thought I did that.

Hi again. No, I did change both, will put new screenies, see reds. It is possible mine does have Ebola. Sorry, forgot to do the red in the top one. but U will see it without the red.

K just went back and put the red in the top one. It's either gremlins or Ebola. Wut else could it be?

Edit: Hold it! Whole new quantum leap irrational thought just hit: Pale Moon Face is so desperate to dissociate himself and his puppy from FX.....it is anything with the word FOX in it, he HAS WRITTEN CODE TO HURT! i.e., LavaFOX Red!

See that?

I'm stumped. For mine all I changed were those two setting and it works the same as it did before the change. I have plain blank pages both when I start Pale Moon and when I open a new tab.

Changing those two settings and the identification string has 25.0.2 working and looking exactly the same ('cept a bit faster it seems) as the last version of 24 did for me. At this point I'm not sure what else to suggest except maybe a clean install of the browser?

Please, U R such a nice human, I feel increasingly bad re the time you are spending on this. Truly, one tiny mouseclick is no big deal.

Given how picky I am re configuring everything, while a clean install, logically, should put things right, re configuring everything....it's a daunting/nauseating prospect, given the time it would take re all my PWs, bookmarks, etc....I am positive I would then REALLY blame Pale Moon Face.

NOT TO WORRY!!!!!:)

As I mentioned before every 25 version of PM crashes for me. 24.7.2 is stable. The only add-on I use is adblock edge. I shall try disabling ABE and see if it works.

Oh here's a good one as an aside. My wife tried to use a PA state website with PM 24.7.2 and IE11. The site said she needed to use IE5.5. or later, lol. It only worked with IE11 in compatibility mode. Truly impressive.

Edit: 25.0.2 still crashes for me with no add-ons enabled. Guess I am stuck with 24.7.2. It was good while it lasted.

You see, I like to install an application, use it, and do nothing else. Not sit and wonder wither X site would work or X add-on will work.

Now, the latest Add-On that doesn't work is my favorite Download Manager (Internet Download Manager) stopped working. Not only is IDM a download manager, but it also allows you to download any streaming video you are watching with a click of a button. Now that's broken since v25 of Pale Moon. I don't know what on earth did they change so much that broke the entire web/add-ons compatibility. Remember when I first introduced you to Pale Moon long back?

What I said back then, Pale Moon is Firefox on steroids, faster speed, multi-CPU core support, compatible with all Firefox Addons, etc........

that has change now,,,,,,speed = worse / addons=broken / sites = partially broken

so the negatives outweigh the positives for me and it's too much of a hassle to get things working. The dude wants us to start emailing companies expressing how we want to have the freedom of choice. Right, I understand that, but I am not working for him or getting paid to do this. I have other browser choices that work.

Just my 2 cents

@Virgorising
Have you tried asking the developer of PM in the official forums instead of trying all this voodoo just to get rid of one logo noone gives a damn about?

Sigh. One huge advantage of learning wut others are enduring, is, it hones perspective. In my case, gives me more blessings to count and renders my one miniscule remaining issue that I now have to close out the logoscreen, but CAN..... moot.

But, also re perspective, given how singular PM has been among browsers.....this-all is a real tragedy. I sure hope he wakes up. Pale Moon Face.:|

In my opinion, my chronology contains no voodoo. And plenty of humans in the world give beyond a damn about the logoscreen. See the link I recently found and put up in post #49.

My feeling is, Pale Moon Face is following the tsunami of intense complaints posted on the net in response to 25. Including those who have already rolled back.

No offense but, for me, you have not passed voir dire to sit on some jury of arbiters of what people should give a damn about and what they should ignore. My responses are mine and not to be trivialized cavalierly. I don do that to anyone.

Finally, pls explore your propensity to hurl invective. It has no upside for any of us here.

This.

I used to and it just became of a hassle more than anything to me.

I've been considering migrating to another browser as a result of the recent update issues, and Seamonkey was the nearest next best choice for me (despite its ugly and in some places rough at the edges UI), but its lack of about:newtab support was a serious drawback.

The current version works for me though, which is a relief.

Before I figured out how to at least be able to get rid of the Logoscreen each time I open PM, I too reached the I am so outta here point; I even got a new copy of FX which then reminded me of how disgusting and bloated it is.

I then chilled and invested in optimism and patience. Depending on which issues you are enduring with 25 and if any are deal breakers---this is subjective---pls just consider doing the same.

Not saying you should, such things are always the individual's call, but I honestly believe he will regain his sanity and fix what he broke.

So, I, for one, am not ready to kick PM to the curb.

I'm not feeling a great deal of loyalty to any browser since Mozilla screwed up the Firefox UI so badly, and IMO PM's days are numbered (whenever FF 24 ESR reaches its end of life, 24th Feb 2015 apparently according to FF's official ESR "one year" policy), or at least, for the reasons why I chose PM in the first place. I would rather be ready with an alternative instead of rushing for one when the time comes.

I've just had yet another poke at the latest version of Firefox. After reading an article about it, I've installed one add-on, 'classic theme restorer', which puts back most of what I care about, and the other is an old one I used to use, Status-4-Evar. The only thing that's bugging me currently about it is that I'd like to make the download button do something sensible, because I hate that bubble notification.

I get and respect all of the above. But makes me even sadder, given the importance of a decent browser in our lives, and, that what is emerging is we can't trust any of them to remain reliable, stable and viable.:(

Very sad, and, I think, jus plain stupid.

You sure seem to like to use special words to give your posts some impression of "extra quality". Too bad they don't make any sense.
You also posted lenghty paragraph and completely ignored my question. You must be a lawyer or something.
Perhaps if you bothered to ask the author of the browser, you would have an answer right away and wouldn't have to spend hours doing trial and error.

I had been sticking with 24.7.1 but then tried 25.0.2 on a test computer and found it to be fix the issues I had been having. The one issue I had was that the Adblock menu and toolbar icon went missing (although the extension was still working as far as I could tell), but the Palemoon addon team has a fix for that:
https://addons.palemoon.org/extensions/privacy-and-security/adblock-plus/

or for edge:
https://addons.palemoon.org/extensions/privacy-and-security/adblock-edge/

That being said, I'm definitely not happy about PM seemingly getting too out of touch with FF to the point where its requiring all these fixes...
